Abstract

Abstract. Cushing’s disease (CD) is a rare endocrine disorder caused by excessive production of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) due to a pituitary adenoma. Elevated ACTH levels lead to overproduction of cortisol by the adrenal glands. At the time of diagnosis, most patients already present with characteristic clinical signs, including central obesity, moon face, hirsutism, and facial flushing. Chronic cortisol excess leads to significant metabolic, cardiovascular, and psycho-emotional disorders, increasing the risk of mortality.

Therefore, early diagnosis and timely treatment of CD are critically important. However, the clinical manifestations vary and often overlap with those of other obesity-related disorders, complicating accurate diagnosis. These guidelines, developed by leading Uzbek specialists, aim to support physicians in screening, diagnosis, and choosing optimal treatment strategies for CD using modern approaches and accessible diagnostic tools.

Conclusion. Cushing’s disease remains a serious endocrine condition requiring early detection, a stepwise and multidisciplinary treatment approach using modern imaging, surgery, pharmacotherapy, and radiotherapy. The implementation of national clinical guidelines in Uzbekistan improves the quality of diagnosis, facilitates personalized management, and reduces the risk of complications in affected patients.
