Abstract

Introduction. The bones of the facial skeleton are one of the critical parts of the human body and serve as the center for various injuries. Facial injuries can occur for many reasons, such as traffic accidents, falls, physical assaults, and sports activities. These injuries can have not only cosmetic effects but also lead to functional impairments. For forensic experts, it is crucial to accurately diagnose and assess facial bone injuries, as their conclusions play an important role in legal processes. This article provides practical recommendations for studying facial skeleton bones in the event of injuries and presents necessary information for forensic experts to avoid errors.

Objective. The aim of this study is to assist forensic experts in precisely diagnosing injuries by examining the injured facial bones and to prevent potential inefficiencies and errors that may occur during their work.

Materials and Methods. The study utilized data collected from 2020 to 2024 based on interviews and observations with patients conducted in several health care facilities. The medical records of injured patients, results of radiological examinations, and forensic expert conclusions were analyzed. Statistical analysis methods and experimental methods were applied to identify general and specific characteristics.

Results. The study results showed that facial bone injuries vary significantly. The most commonly encountered injuries include fractures of the jawbones, nasal bones, and cheekbones. In some cases, errors were observed during the analysis conducted by forensic experts, which could play a significant role in the initial assessment of injuries. Additionally, clear recommendations regarding the level of damage incurred and the characteristics of various injuries were presented.

Conclusion. Injuries to facial skeleton bones are an important subject for forensic experts, and it is essential to consider variability when making accurate diagnoses and assessing damage. The study provided necessary recommendations for improving the accuracy of injury assessments and reducing errors in practice. Forensic experts can utilize these recommendations to accurately evaluate the condition of injuries and reach appropriate conclusions.
