Abstract

Introduction. Analysis of modern literature shows that non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is becoming one of the leading problems of our time. According to WHO data, currently every 8-10th person in the world suffers from hepatosis. This study focuses on non-invasive elastography, ultrasound examination, and morphological studies aimed at diagnosing the disease. The results of both research methods were analyzed and compared.

Purpose: improvement of the diagnosis of fatty liver hepatoses using elastography and morphological research methods.

Materials and methods. This study included the results of a comprehensive examination of 216 patients with suspected or clinically identified NAFLD: 95 (44.9%) men and 121 (56%) women. Of these, 49 were healthy individuals and constituted the control group. 167 patients with varying degrees of severity of the disease constituted the main group.

Results. In mild cases of the disease, the sensitivity of 2D SWE was 61.5%, specificity - 75.6%, and diagnostic accuracy - 70.1%. In severe cases of NAFLD, the sensitivity of 2D SWE reached 91.4%, specificity - 80%, and diagnostic accuracy - 88.9%.

Conclusion. The use of innovative ultrasound technology, such as 2D SWE elastography, opens up fundamentally new possibilities for the early diagnosis of liver fibrosis in NAFLD and can be used as an alternative to morphological examination in the presence of contraindications.
