Abstract
Introduction: Currently, HIV and syphilis coinfection is a significant medical issue. The coexistence of these diseases complicates diagnosis and treatment.
Objective: To study the clinical and laboratory features of syphilis in HIV-infected patients.
Materials and Methods:WE take 34 patients (17 with HIV only, 17 with HIV and syphilis). Diagnosis included serological tests and immune status assessment.
Results: Syphilis in HIV-infected patients showed more severe progression, decreased CD4 cell counts, and increased viral load. Latent forms of syphilis were also observed.
Conclusion: HIV and syphilis co-infection leads to more severe disease, increased risk of neurosyphilis, and requires enhanced diagnostics and personalized treatment.
