Abstract

Kimmerly anomaly is one of the pathologies of the С_I spine, caused by mechanical compression of the vertebral artery. This study covers the factors causing Kimmerly anomaly, etiopathogenesis, anatomical and clinical types of the anomaly, main symptoms, and conditions of vertebrobasilar insufficiency. The diagnostic significance of X-ray, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and Doppler ultrasonography methods in assessing blood flow was also analyzed. The results of surgical treatment methods were considered.
